Pirates, adventure and a futuristic glimpse of Banzai's new world starts this book off with a bang. The story continues seamlessly from where the Legend of Banzai Maguire book left off. In fact, the first part of this book is mostly about Banzai up until Chapter 5 when Cam (aka Scarlet) appears.

The affection between Banzai and Ty is sensual without it being explicit. The author does an excellent job illustrating the devotion these two characters have towards each other. And it's very believable given what they have endured individually as well as together.

The immediate attraction between Cam and Kublai (aka Kyber) definitely sizzled. And the author did an admirable job delineating Cam's personality from that of Banzai's, which makes this book even more descriptive of the new world than that of the first book. It's through Cam's eyes, and she is more adventurous, less stoic to her surroundings, and more open to relationships than that of Banzai.

This book does a good job tying up the loose ends but clearly there was more that could have been included. For instance, Kyber's brother and even the relationship between Cam & Kyber was rushed. But, the author explained that this entire series was to have been 5-6 books total, some from other authors which didn't work out. Thats unfortunate because I think it would have been an even better series. Nevertheless, combined the Legend of Banzai Maguire and Empress Scarlet provide an exciting thrill ride.

Could have been an awesome story. Having Banzai captured in the beginning is exciting but then you don't hear anything about what's going on with her for another 100 pages. Cam flying over the rebels is old Washington was pointless. The ending is totally flat. The first book in this series has a much stronger story.
This is a good book and easy to read.
Love the whole series. The Scarlet Empress is actually #5 in the series. Thanks to all the authors for the series.
The second book in the 2176 series. Easy reading for a holiday weekend. As a veteran, I understood it, but you don't have to be in order to enjoy this futuristic romance novel.
An excellent conclusion to The Legend of Bonzai Maguire. I only regret I wasn't able to read the companion stories in the series.
Susan Grant never disappoints me. she manage the adventure and romance very well, she keeps me tight to the book until the last page.

This another of her well written books with well-developed characters about war and fight for liberty.
as all Grant's characters the heroine in this book is sexy, smart, strong and inspiring. She has spirit and she is brave. There's a lot of action and suspense romance and humor.
This book is linked to The legend of Bonzai Maguire.

I passed over this book several times because the cover was kind of cheezy! But NEVER judge a book by its cover. I was so into the characters that I found myself right there along with them. A great writer is someone who can get the reader so caught up in the story that they can see themselves in the moment. This book sent me though sooooo many emotions, happy, sad, even brought out the patriot in me! Both books were so well written that I was sad it was over, but I clapped at the end, like I would after watching a excellent movie. I have read almost all of this authors books, and I am now a true fan. Thanks so much S. Grant for taking the time to write your masterpieces and sharing them with the world!
