Humor may be the best medicine when dealing with any disease, and this author did not disappoint. I found the material to be informative without being full of medical jargon. In many ways, I recognized similar struggles within my life with other issues. Often we ask ourselves questions beginning with What if....Mariana gives one answer to the most painful question "What if an illness strikes". And her answer is shattering yet self-ironic, painful but humane. A book that will definitely leave a mark once you've read it! I recommend it to all people but especially to those who never have enough!
Felt this was an inside view of the life changed first by a disease and then by what the disease leaves behind.
The disease- encephalitis and the fallout left behind- epilepsy are displayed for what they are and what they have done to the author. Somehow she has written this from a wide and bold perspective, but always with a sense of humor.
Profound and poignant...not just a book about an illness. A book about bravery in the face of incredible adversity. Beautifully written and yes, humorous.
This is someone's story; straight from their get up in the morning to their go sleep at night. I think it is one of the most brave acts to tell your story. I have learned alot and considered this experience in a way I couldn't have before since I do not have that special friend Ms. seizure. Thank you for this book!

This is a first hand look at what life is like living with an incurable illness. I liked that is was not full of a lot of medical jargon; just a look at what had happened to the author and what life is like for her now. I think it will help readers understand that victims of epilepsy are ordinary people and should be treated the same as you would treat anyone else
The author is a talented writer and a fanciful storyteller, with an innate ability to bring words to life by her wonderful sense of humor and wit. I was completely mesmerized from start to finish -- it is both heartening and disheartening; heartwarming and heartbreaking. Beautifully written from her soul. I was in tears at times and on the floor laughing at other times. A perfect balance. Anyone who reads this book will be touched and forever have a new respect and appreciation for the people who live within the world of seizures. I highly recommend this book.
