THE CHANGELING Weald Fae Journals Book 2 eBook Christopher Shields
I am really enjoying this series. I regret reading it before the third book was published, because I don't like waiting to continue a series this good. (and those endings are a killer) Luckily, The Aetherfae, #3, is coming in a few weeks. The direction of this story is 100% unpredictable. Shields writes a masterfully woven tale of god-like supernatural villains and heroes, and its often impossible to discern one from the other.
The Fae of the Weald are dangerous, powerful and treacherous creatures. Its all Maggie can do to maintain day by day, hour by hour, amidst the intricate Fae rules, politics, and unknown pitfalls awaiting her every misstep. And of course, she has to figure out where they took her brother before he wastes away to death.
Maggie's brother has been stolen and replaced for a Changeling, and the clock is ticking, as both Fae and the boy are dying, their fates tied together. And who can Maggie trust? Her friends at school are unwittingly dangerous, with their lack of control over their thoughts and words. The Unseelie would have her dead in an instant, and the Seelie, her supposed allies, are potentially her most dangerous enemies.
Maggie must learn to harness her phenomenal abilities, secret away the full extent of her power from the Fae who surround her every minute, and protect her brother and family from the whims of these callous, deadly creatures.
A very intense read. Don't start this book unless you have the time to finish it in one sitting.

THE CHANGELING Weald Fae Journals Book 2 eBook Christopher Shields Reviews
After reading The Steward, I was hooked on the story line and ready for more! Once again, Christopher Shields thoroughly impressed me with his vivid descriptions of both landscapes and human emotion. The combined energy of spectacular scenery with suspense is above and beyond what I expected. I will not spoil it for other potential readers. I can only say this is a "must read".
Oh, and if you get a chance to visit Northwest Arkansas, you'll understand why the author used our area as a setting.
Wow. I was hooked after book one, and when I picked this up, I just burned through it. The fae are powerful and challenging, very well depicted, and the plotting is significantly tighter and smoother. Everything has consequences, and watching the journey unfold is mesmerizing. I couldn't put this down. Do yourself a favor and but this, and its predescessor, right now. Seriously.
After reading the first book in this series, The Steward, I was so delighted to see that the next book - The Changeling - was already available! and it did NOT disappoint!
Maggie O'Shea has now been on the Weald for a year and she's suddenly discovered that her younger brother has been kidnapped. How far will she go to get him back?
Fast paced and exciting, this sequel takes you on a whirlwind adventure that doesn't disappoint!
I can't wait to read more!
All too often, series start off with a bang and quickly die somewhere in the second book. The Changeling is the squeal to The Steward, the first book in Christopher Shields new series and it doesn't disappoint. Picking up from where The Steward ended, the action and pace are both great as we follow the continuing saga of the main character, Maggie. Great characters and the Ozark setting adds a lot to the overall feel.
I highly recommend this book and the series as a whole to all fans of epic fantasy.
The Changeling by Christopher Shields is the second book in the Weald Fae Journals. I loved the first book, The Steward and this one is just as good. A book filled with Fae (fairies) and set in the mountains of Arkansas, it is every fairytale lover's dream. Maggie O'Shea, the main character is a strong feminine character that will do anything to protect her family and friends from the evil fae. As the title states, there is a changeling in book two. Maggie desperately tries to save her little brother, Mitch, while the changeling takes his place in their lives. A great read! My only disappointment is that the third book isn't finished yet. Good for ages 13 and up.
I received The Steward as a free promo book and thought I would read it and give this author a try! I was not disappointed to say the least. After reading The Steward, I purchased the second book in the series, The Changeling, so that I could continue reading this wonderful story. It was a great page turner that kept my heart racing in anticipation, always wondering what would happen next. I was pleased with both books, the characters are believable and the story itself was so much fun to read that I couldn't stop turning the pages. Did my husband get dinner this past weekend? No way! I ordered pizza delivery! When the book ended, I was frustrated, knowing I would have to wait for the next book to be written before I could continue. Definitely a cliff hanger! I laughed out loud in certain parts of the book, felt the emotions of the characters and even felt anger towards the Unseelie Chalen! I will definitely continue purchasing future books from this author. I love his style, how he captures the scenes and is so descriptive, I felt as if I could see myself walking in the Weald gardens myself!
I have to admit that I usually don't read Fairytales and if the first Book "The Steward" wouldn't have been free, I never would have bought it and I would have missed out on one of the greatest Stories I have ever read. So great that as soon as I could I bought the second Part "The Changeling". First time ever that I actually bought an EBook. The story is brilliant. It has everything, from suspense, drama, romance, action, humor and horror. It is easy to read without all the mistakes that a lot of the books have by unknown authors. I tried to make it last, forcing myself to put the book down so I won't finish it so fast. It followed me into my dreams, it is absolutely stunningly written. The Author has an amazing fantasy. He has the talent to become real famous. It's originality is what amazed me so much. A lot of it I didn't see coming, it surprised me over and over again. Can't wait to read the next one.
